I feel the need of investigating and revealing what have happened in real politics from an artist perspective, and see how art could serve and be transformed under such context. Therefore, I started my art research: having jobs in political parties, NGOs, joined the inside conversation, funded political organization, and led huge movements myself.

The Taiwanese have been advocating for marriage equality for decades. In 2005, legislator Hsiao Bi-Khim first introduced the same-sex marriage bill. Through the 2016 presidential election, people elected the candidate of Democratic Progress Party (DPP), Tsai Ing-wen, as the president, who publicly promised to advocate for LGBTQ rights and the legislation of same-sex marriage during her campaign. After the election, civic groups held the 14th annual LGBTQ Pride parade, which is the largest in Asia, in October, and the issue of legalization of same-sex marriage has entered the agenda of the Judiciary and Organic Laws and Statutes Committee in the Congress. As a result, the two largest parties in the Congress, DPP and KMT, along with the third largest party, NPP, have introduced the bill to amend the Civil Code, aiming for legalizing same-sex marriage.
Lee Tzu Tung with OTD organized movements across more than 40 cities around the globe, people come out and show your support for Taiwan's LGBTQ movement. She designed and led the movement.
